Everything Ends...

"Breathe Me"-Sia

I absolutely love "Six Feet Under". Or should I say loved, since it ended a few years ago, with the best ending I have ever seen to anything. It's so good it gives me major chills and a lump in my throat. It's the kind of ending that grabs you right in the guts and breaks your heart and makes you feel so happy to be alive and so sad that every beautiful thing will cease to exist and every moment will be forgotten as those who remember it will all be dust. I'm sure if you see the ending without having seen the entire series, it would not have nowhere near the same impact. That's because throughout the show the characters slowly work their way under your skin and right into your heart like nothing else. Everyone is so flawed and relatable and three-dimensional.

Most of all the women; I don't think any other show has ever had the guts to depict such complex, messed-up, sexy, smart, challenging and beautiful women. Claire is absolutely my favourite-I totally relate to her journey; learning to deal with her emotions through her art and her struggle to find her place in the world, after feeling like she was just an add-on to her family. But aswell as Claire, I loved Brenda for her bold, honest and messed-up sexuality; Bettina for her spontanaity and warm, open nature; Sarah for her earthy free-spiritedness' and Maya for her sweet, quiet adorableness!...and in fact, every woman that ever made an appearance was so well-drawn and flawed and complex: Ruth, Parker, Anita, Edie, Lisa, Margaret, Vanessa etc. So thank-you to all the creators, writers, directors and actors for making a splendid television show that transcends it's medium, like any art should, and will surely live on in many people's hearts for years to come....

and here are some pictures of a few of my favourite moments and characters...

It's a Common thing.

This morning, I happened to see music video for Alicia Keys' new song "Like you'll never see me again" and not only is it a gorgeously sad song but to my delight, the singer Common plays her love interest in the video. Not only is Common gorgeous but he is also super talented and if you haven't heard his music, you really must check it out.

If someone could tell me how to post videos from youtube that say embedding is disabled, that would be great...thanks:)

Shock...Britney does something right!

Hello to anyone who reads this. I will be writing about my thoughts on my various pop-culture addictions-tv shows, movies, style, celebrities, music, magazines and books. And perhaps I will also write about my various pursuits outside of pop-culture entertainment, it all depends on how interesting my life is at the time. I hope that my posts amuse, entertain or at the very least occupy you....here goes!

Ok, so I know that in the last year Britney Spears has completely lost the plot, but there is no denying the girl has talent. I found her new cd Blackout for 10 dollars and couldn't resist as I love her new single "Piece of Me" (by the way, the song writers really hit the nail on the head with Britney's songs-I would almost believe she wrote them herself). To my surprise, the whole cd is awesome, probably the best I've ever heard Britney. It's dirty and sexy and get-down-on-the-dance-floor grindy, much like Britney herself! I especially recommend track 2-Piece of Me, 4-Break the Ice and 11-Perfect Lover. Believe me when I say I am far from a Britney fan and I am quite embarassed to be recommending her music but trust me, it's good. It's interesting-i should dislike both Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears' music on principle, but they're just too good! Long live the mickey mouse club. And no, I didn't love Christina Aguilera's last album. Way too theme-y if you ask me.

So well done Britney. it's about time you did something right.
