Lindsay Lohan: Role Model?...

Why are so many young Hollywood 'It' girls (well, they don't do much 'singing' or 'acting') so self-destructive? Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, Nicole Richie, Mary-Kate Olsen, Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan...the list goes on. With self-inflicted diseases from anorexia, bulimia, drug-addiction, sex-addiction and alcoholism, one has to wonder why these young women, who seemingly have everything:youth, beauty, fame and wealth, teeter (in their vintage pucci wedges) on the edge of self-destruction? Perhaps, with all their material needs met, grossly exceeded even, their souls are left starving for genuine love and attention.

Hollywood is full of lost little girls looking for love, hoping that a piece of fame will give them the love they never received, and when that fails, they seek attention in self-destructive ways. Sadly, many of these young women serve as role models to little girls all over the world, whose love and adoration is rewarded with the privilege of watching their icons self-destruct. They should take a lesson from the ultimate destructive 'It' girl, Anna Nicole Smith, who walked herself into the grave she dug all on her own.

I leave you with a quote from former addict Robert Downey Jr about his own self-destructive tendencies:

"It's like I have a loaded gun in my mouth, and I like the taste of metal."

And on a unrelated-ish note: how adorable is Shia LaBeouf in this mugshot? (he was arrested for refusing to leave a Walgreen's store-which is a pretty cute thing to get arrested for!)
